As a Field Technician, you will play a pivotal role in maintaining and improving our telecommunications infrastructure. Responsibilities include the installation, servicing, and maintenance of both indoor and outdoor equipment to ensure optimal service delivery to our valued customers.

The duties of the Service Technician encompass a wide range of tasks, including installing services, addressing trouble tickets, diagnosing issues, and executing repairs with efficiency and effectiveness. These tasks require meticulous adherence to technical guidelines, safety protocols, and the use of appropriate tools to achieve desired outcomes.

Key Job Responsibilities:

• Install, configure, arrange, remove, and maintain all telecom, TV, and internet equipment, wiring (fibre and copper), and related hardware.

• Educate customers on the use of IPTV and internet equipment and troubleshoot basic user issues.

• Inspect, test, and repair cables, wiring, and associated equipment at subscribers' premises.

• Conduct tests on installed telephone systems to identify transmission faults and troubleshoot issues related to connections, splitters, and other signal distribution components.

• Perform repairs and adjustments on cable and equipment to restore optimal signal transmission.

• Deploy equipment, hardware, and cable for service provision.

• Utilize computerized testing systems and provisioning software for setup, maintenance, and troubleshooting of subscriber services.

• Identify the nature, cause, and location of service issues and generate comprehensive test reports.

• Maintain accurate records of service calls, repairs, and equipment inventory.

• Ensure compliance with safety guidelines and industry regulations during installations and repairs.

• Provide excellent customer service, addressing inquiries and concerns professionally and promptly.

• Stay updated on industry trends, technological advancements, and best practices in telecom equipment installation and processes.

• Collaborate with team members and supervisors to coordinate work schedules and prioritize service requests.

• Use specialized equipment for locating, mapping, and repairing underground infrastructure.

Skills and Requirements:

• Strong math skills and ability to understand fractions, measurements, and distinguish different colors.

• Excellent communication skills for interacting with customers, office staff, supervisors, and other technicians.

• Basic understanding of networking and proficiency in using specialized tools and equipment for signal testing and diagnostics.

• Manual dexterity for precision work with various tools.

• Physical stamina for extended periods on feet, lifting heavy items, climbing ladders, excavating for repairs, and working in confined spaces.

• High school diploma or equivalent.

• Proven experience in telecom (telephone, TV, and internet) business in installation and repair.

• Familiarity with signal distribution components and ability to troubleshoot and resolve signal quality issues effectively.

• Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills.

• Ability to work independently and in various weather conditions and physical environments.

• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
