The first quarter of 2024 has been exceptionally busy across all our business fronts. We concluded our financial year with a thorough review of our outstanding performance at the Annual General Meeting on March 26.
As of the end of 2023, we had laid 68% of the mainline fiber and upgraded over half of the homes in the project from copper to fiber. Construction for the second and final year of our fibre upgrade project commenced in early March. By the end of April month end we will have already completed two of the nine segments of mainline fiber. We are well on our way to complete the project in 2024, and everyone in our Co-operative territory will have fibre.

During the Annual General Meeting the Board presented their unanimous support for expanding the Co-operative to include customers from our Competitive Local Exchange Carriers (CLEC). This decision was made to safeguard the Co-op's long-term competitiveness.
The board carefully considered six key points before reaching this decision:
Based on these considerations, the Board voted to expand the Co-operative, a decision that was confirmed at the AGM.
Effective June 1, 2024, the Co-op will formally expand to include CLEC customers as Co-op Members. To ensure representation on the Board from the expanded areas, two additional Board Members will be added. The Board composition will consist of five members from SILEC (our home area) and two from CLEC going forward. These two board members will be appointed as interim Directors until 2026, at which time there will be an election for the CLEC positions.
By expanding the Co-operative, we are confident that we will become a stronger, more competitive organization, appealing to potential members by offering them the opportunity to become Co-operative members.
We want to inform you that, effective June 1, 2024, Gosfield North Communications Co-operative will be implementing minor price adjustments on our IPTV and Phone services.
Despite our efforts to maintain stable pricing over the years, inflationary pressures make this adjustment necessary. We understand that any increase in rates can be challenging, and we sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause to our loyal members and customers.
